Canada – Bruce Trail End-to-End Week 3
Jun 16 – Day 9 Starting from Inglis Falls I headed North through the outskirts of Owen Sound. I decided to wear trail shoes instead of boots because a) I was sick of the boots after the long day yesterday and b) I expected easy ground and quite a bit of roads/rail trail. More on…
Canada – Bruce Trail End-to-End Week 2
Jun 9 – Day 5 The forecast was calling for >36C with humidex so we knew today needed to be earlier and shorter. Grey-Sauble waterfall sites had reopened a couple days earlier so I could now go East from Hogg’s Falls. This would make a handy ~10km route for a hot day. A quick climb…
Canada – Bruce Trail End-to-End Week 1
We got great news – June 2 the Bruce Trail was reopening almost everywhere! Only a few areas (mostly on the Bruce Peninsula) are still closed. For those who don’t know, the Bruce Trail is Canada’s Oldest and Longest marked footpath, stretching ~900km from Niagara to Tobermory. It was time to dust off Plan D.…
Canada – Social distancing edition
We’ve been back in Canada for ELEVEN weeks, almost 3 months! What have we been up to? Well – reading, tv, web-surfing, and puzzles. Increasingly, lots of walks and hiking. Our first month was spent in a condo in Toronto. In the 15 minutes we had between when we found out we could continue to…
New Zealand – Taranaki and a sudden change of plan
March 12 – A trip on the Inter-islander ferry for our return to the North Island. It was reported as ‘moderate’ swell for crossing the strait. So nice to fly home with you from NZ. It made the long flight home very enjoyable! I just wanted to say hi and let you know how thankful I was to share a row with you both!! I was so anxious about that flight, getting home to my family and the state of our world! I was meant to be your row partner:)
I hope you both (and your family) are well! Here’s to the next week of quarantine and unknown physical distancing:(

Wanda,
We had a very nice flight home with you as well. Frankly, we were relieved by your presence in our row as well.
Bronwen and I are fine, and existing quite well here in Toronto. We’ve been in contact with all family members and everybody is fine – maybe feeling a bit like caged animals, but otherwise fine.
Just about halfway through our self-isolation! Looking forward more normal days ahead and a nice walk, whilst maintaining a healthy distance from others.
All the best to you and your family,
Brent
